This year featuring music from Dallas County's own Charlie Argo! Complete with games and events that are fun for all ages. The day will end with a fireworks spectacular sponsored by the City of Valley Grande.

Selma, AL, July 28, 2016: The National Voting Rights Museum and the Bridge Crossing Jubilee announce events to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.

On August 6, 1965, President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act 6 months after the historic Bloody Sunday and Selma to Montgomery March. The Act removed many barriers that allowed the election of hundreds of African American public offices. In 2013, the U.S. Supreme Court gutted the heart of the act, the preclearance provisions. Since that time, voting barriers have been resurrected. However, the fight to secure voting rights continue. Therefore, the public is urged to attend a reception and special ceremony to honor the students from area schools who help give birth to the Voting Rights Act.
