Cold Drinks, Good Eats & Back Road Treats

"Our roady canine, Duke, invites you to follow him on a back roads weekend jaunt through Alabama’s Black Belt region to feed upon the bounty of drinks and eats created by the locals. Along the way you’ll paws for goodies that have been baked, brewed, butchered, canned, distilled, gathered, ground, pickled, roasted and smoked … just for you!
The color-coded map outlines nine different themed trails. Each one is featured on the linked, PDF pages available for download. The Shopping Checklist on each page highlights each trail’s delectable creations you’ll want to sample and take home with you.
Duke has shared his favorite stops along the way for handmade items by local artisans, the historical events that define the cultural character of our rural communities and outdoor fun with nature on our rivers and lakes or a trek through the woods. Want to know Where the Locals Eat? He leads you there, too! Where to Stay? At the end of the day relax by a campfire at one of our state parks, cozy up in a tiny cabin or stay at a friendly bed and breakfast.
So, pack your bags, a picnic basket and a cooler and load up with family or friends (don’t forget your furry one) for a delicious road trip as you Feed Your Adventure on the Flavors of the Black Belt Trail. Make sure the Black Belt Flavors Passport is on your radar. Check out the details to find out how you can be a winner."
