Selma, AL, July 28, 2016: You are invited to attend the Closing Ceremony for the 1st Connie Tucker Social Justice Internship on Sunday, July 31, 2016, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The ceremony will honor 9 interns who have lived and worked in Selma and engaged in youth and community work for 5 weeks. In particular, they have implemented Project GROW in Selma and Montgomery which is a grassroots organization project. The interns are from Rhode Island and Alabama cities and include college students, high school students and community youth workers. The internship was initiated by the Selma Center for Nonviolence and the Bridge Crossing Jubilee to honor the life and work of Connie Tucker who helped start and grow the National Voting Rights Museum, the Bridge Crossing Jubilee and the Selma Tracking Movement. Your attendance would demonstrate your gratitude for Ms. Tucker and the 9 interns who are carrying on her legacy and work.
